partial installation view

Mokkan Kakishita studied a style of Japanese calligraphy know as "Ichijisho", or one character calligraphy, under Yukei Teshima and Taiho Yamamoto. The philosohy behind the school was to express inner emotion using a single Kanji (Chinese) character. After years of study, Mr. Kakishita started his own group known as "Ikkikai", to whom he teaches calligraphy and "Ichijisho". Currently, there are over 50 members in his group.
