Tree, 1997 wood, steel, steel cable 56" diameter, 21 ft. tall

The centerpiece of this exhibition is a deconstructed/reconstructed tree that suggests 'Do you remember the way it used to be? Now all that is gone.' This tree only recalls a tree, because now it's a sculpture: made to look alive and propped up like El Cid on his horse, riding out to do battle against the way things are. Also on view are photographs, and an installation of sewn, decaying fruit skins held together by zippers, buttons and thread.
