Envelope Drawing, 1998 (detail)
"I start with used manila envelopes, sent from England, full of associations. I cut them into strips and lay them down onto sheets of wet, newly-made paper. I can touch and hold this line. The controlled act of cutting gives way to the flow of drawing. Cut loose from their moorings, structures float and fracture, waiting to surface." - A.G.
