Jeffrey Vallance
ELVIS SWEATCLOTH 1998
pencil, pen and collage on paper 22 x 30 in

"Central topics in this exhibition include the clown faces found on the Shroud of Turin; the purported ghost of Richard Nixon; religious apparitions and spontaneous images; and the landmarks and luminaries of Las Vegas where Vallance has been living since 1994. Vallance records the interrelations among his unorthodox couplings of sacred relics, popular tales and public figures believing once the links are seen, they contaminate the original subject and them become genuine parts of the story. These works are blueprints for the paranormal connections and meaningful coincedences discovered through Vallance's investigations." ---L M G
