Patrick Demarchelier

It was Cartier-Bresson who once suggested that the character of a photographer is most evident in the contact sheet, not the final result. If that is so, we can acclaim with confidence that Demarchelier loves women. And since they in turn love how he photographs them, he doesn't lack for volunteers. As a matter of fact, he never makes anybody look bad. His photographic technique is clean and consistent. The overall body of work does not communicate raw emotion, but a rather detached yet discerning interest in what he is doing.
