The Pharmacy 1995

Is it a giant gland excreting black nuggets? No. It's a gourd, modeled after the kind of gourd Taoist priests used as a satchel to carry medicines. In and around this structure Huang has placed a variety of herbal medicines, alongside objects of no apparent medicinal value. It is not clear what is intended here, but the piece is oddly engaging anyway. Its size is hugely overblown for the space, while its interior structure resembles the framework of a boat hull.
